Some 'coffee' thoughts!

The first thing my manager showed me, in this office was "The Coffee dock". I think, it was even before he showed me my seat.

Thankfully, it wasn’t one of those coffee vending machines, I hated. I used to see it everywhere I worked, and I hated it mainly ‘cos, once I happened to see its cleaning process. When they removed the whitener container, I saw white worms in it!!!

Aaarrrghh.... After that I never used a coffee vending machine. God,

Save all those who drink from it!

Now our coffee dock is actually as big as a meeting room. We have 3 brands of coffee: Gold Blend, Maxwell House, a decaf(decaffeinated) and the strong java one which is used in the decanter. Yea, we have the coffee-filtering machine (psst....I checked how it works..it doesn’t lodge worms!). Then we have tea bags, ordinary and green tea. For sugar we have, brown sugar (not 'the' dope one..lol) , white, and those zero calorie sweetener. And one more, drinking chocolate...

Apart from all these, we have a refrigerator (full of fresh milk, in bottles) a microwave oven, and a big kettle, in our coffee dock. I know, with all these stuff, even if you get locked up here for 3-4 days u can survive ....lol!!

We consume coffee like hell.. I don’t know why, every single person in my office, averages about 7-8 cups a day! For me it comes about 4-5. When my migraine started bothering me, I switched to decaf. But as some one told "drinking decaf is like, kissing your sister", so platonic and plain!!! Lol!

One thing I notices now is that my teeth are turning yellower and yellower...and surprisingly, they don’t provide teeth whitener, along with coffee..

Lately, I bought 3 plain coffee mugs and markers made especially for writing on glossy clay. The purpose: to reveal the artistic, wise and creative me, inside (who has been sleeping, for years!). The only thing missing now is inspiration, to make me do it.

Once I get that, (I still have +ve feelings!) With every cup of coffee, I shall have words of wisdom, drip inside my brain! (apart from more yellowy teeth!)

in case any one find it from any other site..LOL!

  7. Hei Swathi.

Heehe - like the line about the decaf and kissing one's sis!! Very good one.
We in Finland are very fiercely demanding the real thing as in NO instant coffee of any kind or sort - we'd be HIGHLY insulted if we had to drink that stuff! Also, we have a person working fulltime on just doing the coffees non-stop all day!! She does no other job, that is. The poor thing is running of her little feet trying to cater to the 120 plus people demanding their coff to be HOT, STRONG AND FRESH at every hour of the day.
    Great entry. Rii xx

  11. RAJ: In my opinion:
    gold blend : OK, 7/10

maxwell house: more strong, 6/10 (cos I like gold blend)

decaff: i have to use, 3 spoonfulls, to get a nearly decent effect of ordinary coffee! 4/10

java: too strong for me, cos i have to use extra sugar to block the sourness! 0/10 (i dont use it!)

Raj,theres nothing that matches Gran's coffee..
and that pic was from an article in
    http://www.coffee-house.org.uk/
    ..you can see it here...http://www.coffee-house.org.uk/ascentofman.html

i dont know how you got it as "urine..LOL!

  16. Dear Swathi, Does drinking coffee have anything to do with the colour of the teeth? I dont know? Vending machines and buffets are a no no, theres no human touch which comes with the warmth of service. Platonic and plain love are not a bad thing Lol, lasts longer than the other.Always wonder why it is that inspite of coffee drinking becoming more and more popular, the coffee grower is paid peanuts? Guess the middlemen make all the money.

  17. JACOB:i didnt knw coffee stains teeth...but my dentist says so..

i didnt say 'platonic/plain' was bad... but may be for some, it didnt give the 'caffeine effect' may be...

yea, coffee MNCs make alot...but not coffee growers!
my salute to Indian Coffee Houses!

  19. We used to call it "Brain Juice"!!!

Whenever we needed to come up with an idea for some critical problem, the first thing we look for is piping hot coffee- black and plenty of sugar, please!

  20. Hahaha..Coffee rooms are a big drama in all
offices here in USA too :-)))

  21. I love coffee, but not from a vending machine... being a stay-at-home has this advantage... not to deal with any of those white worm machines... That was ewwwww!!

Although I love tea as well, coffee keeps me awake and alert... But max 2 cups a day! And none on some days....

  22. I used to love coffee. I drank coffee daily from the time I was about 14 years old. In 2000 I had some problems with my bladder, and had to quit drinking coffee. That was really difficult, because it was THE drink for me. I drank it all day, and if I woke up and couldn't sleep I would have a cup of coffee and go back to sleep! LOL Now if I have one cup of coffee I can tell the difference in a way I never did before... It is a powerful drug! LOL

  23. Swati, thanks for the warning, luckily I don't drink from vending machines, homemade and Starbucks and other local coffee houses, they make fresh ones. One advice, don't drink too much coffee, it creates lot of stress, one or two should be adequate. You can drink lots of water in the middle that is a great stress reducer and also headaches. I need to have the first coffee of the day, otherwise it is not the same, but not too much coffee. Decaf comment is good, will tell my friends. :)

  26. norma: welcome to my page! it sure is a powerful wonder drug!

chris:its always good to drink fresh ones! i know...its bad..but cant help it...it triggers my migraine like anything... decaf comment is not mine, some one told me!

  29. Coffee actually puts me to sleep, so I only drink it when I have time to relax. :P Even though coffee gets a lot of negative feedback, it actually does have some benefits... one of them being that it can reduce the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. You can read about it here -->

  30. Coffee... yeah - as sankuman said - it is brain juice. i used to take around 25-30 extra strong glass (not the coffe mug, but big glass) full of black coffee, and whn i came to work here, what greeted me is a vending machine... :(((((( now i have cut down my daily dose to 3-4 cups, but when i make it at home, it is usually like 250 ml of think milk, 5 t spoon of nescafe, and 2 spoon of sugar :) and once in a while i go and splurge out @ cafe coffeeday/barista. starts usually with a double shot of espresson/illi espresso and finishes it with some mocha... whn i go there, i spend 3-4 hrs drinking lots n lots of coffee :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Actually folks, 2-4 Indian coffee cups is OK. If you drink a lot more you will find that you hands tremble.. and other side effects. Everything in moderation should be the motto!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hey same pinch...we have a kind of a coffee dock upstairs on the terrace and we have free coffee. So i drink around 4 cups everyday...Since i have migraine i live on coffee. But i really wish we had black coffee too...cos that seems to be more effective. And yeah, my teeth have turned yellow too...
Now its time for me to go check out if they have any worm flavoured coffee...lol

  33. Good God ,Worms?? Really??And to think we just installed a coffee machine in our office.Thanx for the warning. I think i'll stick to the manmade stuff. At home I can't do without my Nescafe in the morning.Inthe evenings it's usually tea.
