A Brief History of Medicine !

Here’s one of those wonderful little pieces that float through cyberspace. No-one knows who wrote it, but I wish I could take credit for it! It would be a perfect additive to my acupuncture sessions!

A Brief History of Medicine

"I have an earache...."

2000 B.C. - Here, eat this root.

1000 A.D. - That root is heathen, say this prayer.

1850 A.D. - That prayer is superstition, drink this potion.

1940 A.D. - That potion is snake oil, swallow this pill.

1985 A.D. - That pill is ineffective, take this antibiotic.

2007 A.D. - That antibiotic is artificial! Here, eat this root.

  9. There has been tremendrous advancement in the field of medicine, especially surgery....Over the years many death causing diseases have become curable.. which we all know...

may be for normal ailments, yes the old procedures can be still effective...

  12. Hahaha, the same goes for the history of our thoughts on our ancestors..

2000 B.C. - Revere our ancestors, for they had true knowledge.

1000 A.D. - New religions come to the fore and we asked -True knowledge? How can anyone say they knew the truth. The truth is in this book.

1850 A.D. - No not that book, in this book. Forget the ancestors, only heathens revere them.

1940 A.D. - That book has been translated so many times, there is no truth in it. Here Try Yoga.

1985 A.D. - Just yoga is insufficient to discover the truth, you need to train under a Guru and learn to Meditate.

2007 A.D. - (with farmers giving up farming, global warming and climatic changes accelerated)Ah! our ancestors from long ago knew the Truth, no wonder they revered the earth and all its beings. They knew the symbiotic relationship we all share. If only we believed and revered them. Welcome to a Full Circle.(LOL)
