A Yucky Horror!!

Do you guys remember the day when you saw an adult horror movie for the first time in ur life? For me, yesterday was that “great” day. You know I am always the “the Warner Brothers Company” or the “Walt Disney Corporation” type. I feel I am bound to give them (only them!!!) the profit. So, my husband always sleeps in the next seat, when I make profit to them.

Those were in the list included Nanny Mc Phee, Chicken Little, Finding Nemo, Shark Tale, Shrek(1,2), Ice Age2, Harry Potter Series etc. So this time, I thot I will be a considerate woman, and choose a movie that makes my husband awake, through out and decided on the film “HOSTEL”. (Has any one seen that movie?).

I really thot I was being very thoughtful and considerate. I didn’t read any reviews on it. I just knew it was for 18+ and it was a horror movie. I thot hmm…may be it will be a ghost story and I was so sure of handling it myself.

It started at 09:00pm. For the first half an hr, it was ok…some adult stuff (not horror) and my confidence increased. I thought, OK, I don’t want to be always the “chicken little” type. I am a BIGGGGG girl. I CAN handle other stuff too. I was fine, reclining, laughing at the rude jokes.

Things changed suddenly. Soon the story took a twist and I was seeing the most horrible scenes in my life. There was a “torture museum” where human beings are tortured and their bodies mutilated in the worst way. They actually showed it, mutilating human bodies. The story is supposed to happen in Slovakia. And for me, my peace came to an end. My jacket went over my head, and I lay low in the seat. And thru the side, I saw my hubby, wide awake, staring into the screen, even without blinking.  Once the torture scenes started, it felt as though, its not going to end at all…

Finally, I couldn’t take any more. I told my hubby that I want to go home. But he asked me to cover my head and ears with jacket and lay down in the seat(So that he can watch w/o hearing me gasping and moaning to go home!!!). I found that even while saying it he didn’t take his eyes off the “$#%$#” screen. His, medium popcorn and coke meal, was getting consumed very fast , while I felt like vomiting seeing the full “bloody and fleshy” film.

I was so thankful that its not like our bollywood films, I had to cover my head for only 1 hr, and the film was over…..phewwwwwww…..

When I reached home, I dashed into the bed room, just got inside the duvet in my jeans and shoes. I slept within 10 mts. Didn’t even have dinner. Didn’t even go to any other room, too…

Anyway I realized one thing. I had taken so many stupid decisions and choices in my life and this, I would count as one of the worst I made. I spent almost 20euros, to get a worst, nightmarish, day in my life, whose effect will last in my mind for weeks…..

YUCK--------I hate adult horror movies……..next time, even if my hubby snores during Warner or Disney movies, I will always chose them only….Being considerate can be a pain in the neck (and ass!).

  5. Not only you, your husband also takes care of Warner brothers' profit even while sleeping. After all he is sleeping after paying them!
Who told you to be thankful that it was not a Bollywood movie? Had it been one, not only you, your children would have enjoyed it without blinking an eyelid! A beautiful woman in white saree, carrying candle, walking chhammm chammm...owls houling...storm, rain, cat, the pot fells, door opens charrrrrrr, a big guy with a mask which children would love to have on dussehra, posing as a bhoot....wow! what fun!!

i uusually read the review before gogin to the movies, but i once made the mistake of watching'the hills have eyes' adn was treated to the most dumbass horror...i heard similar complaints from my friends for 'hostel'..so though i dont mind gore,i didnt waste any time on it.but i did re-learnt a few important lessons...always read the ebert reviews..and check out the rating on imdb.

  9. Poor, Swathi! I'm sorry you had such a really bad experience....here in America such stuff is wildly popular though I don't know why....people here are so desensitized it is scary! It does explain the crime rate.... I like suspense films....maybe a little bit of disturbing stuff but not like what you described....I've seen stuff like that, but I choose not to see it anymore because it does bother me, unlike many people in the US who love it.

  12. You know this movie is actually based on true events? You can go to the website and there's some info on it. I'm still waiting for it to come out on DVD even though I heard it wasn't really as scary/gorish as the trailers lead you to believe. I love horror movies.

  13. RYN: Jerome (22... he has his own place though), Nelson (20), Christine (16), Eric (12) and Genesis is 7. Just for the record though... when Genesis talks about 'them' people, she doesn't use the names I do... she just calls them by their first names, and I only refer to them as such in my writings.

  14. RYOtherN: Saw 2 was pretty good, better than the first, but we (Jerome, Nelson & I) really didn't like the way it ended. I would recommend (sp?) it, but after reading this entry, I"m not sure you will enjoy it as much. ;-)

As for the babysitting job, in Pennsylvania the hourly rate ranges anywhere from $5.15 per hour to $35.55 per hour, but this woman only ended up paying her $6... for 4 hours... overnight... AND 3 kids... That made me so mad. I told Christine she's not going to babysit for her anymore (I will tell the woman myself if she asks)... and if it's an 'emergency' then she better be prepared to pay $30 up front, because she is doing nothing more but trying to take advantage of my daughter and I'm just not going to let it happen. :-|

  16. I avoid horrors ... I prefer comedies, romance, action, animated and drama ... horror is not my genre of movies .... The only gross film I've seen is Cabin Fever and I couldn't complete it too ... I walked out of the theater .. the film was just Yucky with boold splattering here and there ...

  21. If I'm not mistaken 600E is about $725US, right? I'm assuming maybe you are talking about monthly, am I right? If so, it sounds pretty compatible to here in the states.

  22. ha swathi,
i watch lot number of telugu, hindi, and english horror movies, but after putting tv in mute, or with minimun sound where i can just listen dialogues.
get shivering in spine, if i c them with big sound.
i never dared and even now i dont dare to go to theaters, to watch that stuff, really we cant forgot it.
if its very rare, it may be ok.
ok lol, next time if u watch to watch one, watch in tv and with low volume, u may do it with out much problem.better luck next time.
